 Libido Support

Survey on a Nutraceutical Homeopathic Combination Libido Support Transmucosal Spray

Today most men and women are looking for a higher degree of sex and intimacy than in any time in history. We are living longer and want our sex lives to continue to be active. However the statistics suggest that this is not the case.  Studies show that over 35 million men suffer from sexual dysfunction. One out of four men over the age of 50 experience some degree of impotency. By the age of 62 the number is almost 50%. The numbers are just as bad for women.  Statistics show that about two-thirds of women have some type of sexual dysfunction, and one in four women between the ages of 21 and 30 have low sex drives.  This number also increases with age, although the problem tends to bother women less than men as they age.  Stress, poor diets, various health conditions and modern life style cause a growing number of both males and female in their 20's and 30's to experience sexual dysfunction.

Coinciding with "Syndrome X," we now have discovered a new candidate linked to these other symptoms and that is the above described sexual dysfunction which we are now calling "Syndrome seXtm".

The causes of this sexual dysfunction or Syndrome seX may be physical such as an injury to nerves or psychological such as stress, anxiety or depressions.  It should be noted that many pharmaceutical medications, alcohol consumption or smoking also can cause sexual dysfunction.  New studies have now included a number of Syndrome X problems like diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol which is why we have coined the term Syndrome seX.  Studies show that 35% to 75% of men with diabetes will develop some degree of erectile dysfunction.  A study in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society found that nearly half of men aged 40 to 79 with high blood pressure had sexual dysfunction.  Nearly 60% of all individuals with high cholesterol have Syndrome seX symptoms. The same diseases that cause Syndrome seX in men can lead to sexual dysfunction in women.

In order to address this condition, first we need to understand what is libido, and we need to find out what could be the causes for low libido.

Libido, also known as sexual desire, is the function of a person's desire to be sexual and engage in sexual activity. Scientist describes it as the psychological and emotional energy associated with instinctual reproductive biological drives. Libido arises from the effect of the hormone testosterone, which is generally known as the male hormone, but is responsible for sexual desire in both men and women. Although mediated by sex hormones, libido really is a function of the brain. Specific areas of the brain have been identified in animals as essential for sexual receptivity.

Here are some of the possible causes for low libido:

  • Stress
  • Not enough sleep
  • Suboptimal amounts of testosterone in the bod
  • Unresolved conflicts in the relationship
  • A desire to control or punish spouse
  • A way to have power over spouse
  • Sexual orientation conflict or confusion
  • Anger
  • Past sexual abuse
  • Working long hours
  • Too much alcohol consumption
  • Male andropause (Male version of menopause)
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Diabetes
  • BPH (Benign prostatic hypertrophy)
  • Endocrine or neurological disorders
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Depression
  • Family worries
  • Anemia
  • Arthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • Antidepressants
  • Tranquilizers
  • Antihypertensive medications
  • Illegal substances such as heroin, cocaine and marijuana
  • Infidelity

It must be noted that the determination of low, normal or high libido will commonly start with a self-determination, the individual is the first one to assign self a certain level of libido. That self-assesment would then be supported or not by the physical ability to perform accordingly; this is the physical aspect of low libido, or in this case "impaired" libido that can be supported in great degree by eating healthy foods and by the use of proper nutritional supplements. The given proper supplements could be helpful in both male and female low libido problems.

These are some suggested courses of action to support a healthy libido:

  • Eat healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables and watch your fat and carbohydrate content.
  • Nutritional supplements for libido problems will often help.
  • Get seven to eight hours of sleep per night.
  • Exercise daily for at least 30 min.
  • Stop smoking.
  • Stop drinking alcoholic beverages.
  • Drink adequate amounts of water daily.
  • Seek professional help to deal with your depression, inability to handle stress, unresolved conflicts and anger issues.  Common antidepressant pharmaceuticals will only increase low libido problems.
  • Erectile dysfunction drugs probably won't help. The underlying problem needs to be addressed first.
  • Set aside a special time to talk with your wife about your sexual desire and concerns.
  • Do not expect immediate results.
  • Consult a physician if your symptoms continue for this could be a sign of a serious medical condition.

The design of a support formula for libido targets the different physiological aspect that impair the normal body functions involved in sexual activity. Such a formula intents to:

    • Improve Intensity
    • Increases Sexual Desire
    • Improve Performance
    • Increase Stamina & Endurance
    • Increase Sensitivity
    • Heighten the Feelings of Sensation
    • Improve Blood Flow

To achieve these we addressed the area of nutritional support, in the form of nutraceuticals or nutritional supplements, developing a Libido Enhancing Transmucosal Spray. This is a scientifically engineered product designed to be absorbed in the mouth. This formula is a blend of homeopathic remedies in an herbal, nutraceutical base. The ingredients in this formula have been shown to help increase testosterone levels, increase circulation to the genital area, increase sex drive and improve sexual function.  This formula has been designed to enhance the body's production of luteinizing hormone (LH) levels. LH is produced by the pituitary gland and plays an important role in triggering natural testosterone production.  This libido enhancing spray formula also acts as a natural stimulus and is beneficial in helping reduce blood pressure, increasing circulation and sex drive.

The Libido Enhancing Transmucosal Spray was given to 50 subjects that reported the results after using it for an average of 2 to 3 weeks. A survey on the 50 subjects, 40 males and 10 females, produced the following results (questions 6 and 7 were pertinent only to male subjects). Series 1 is the subject baseline before using the Libido Enhancing Transmucosal Spray, and Series 2 is after using it for the afore mention period.

This is a list of the ingredients used in our libibido enhancement transmucosal spray.

Nutraceutical Ingredients:

L-Arginine - Increases natural production of nitric oxide, leading to a more rigid erection.  This naturally occurring semi-essential amino acid can open up blood vessels throughout the body. It increases natural production of nitric oxide, which dilates blood vessels, carrying oxygenated blood and nutrients to vital organs and tissues including the heart and penis. L-Arginine is an amino acid that stimulates growth hormone release and enhances the immune system. It has also been shown to dramatically increase ejaculatory volume levels and orgasm intensity when taken on a regular basis. Anecdotal reports suggest that L-arginine supplements can improve fertility in men who have low sperm counts or poor sperm motility (activity).

Epimedium / Horny Goat Weed - Described in Chinese medicine texts, Epimedium or Horny Goat Weed has been used to promote sexual stimulation by increasing libido. The leaves of the plant contain a variety of flavonoids, polysaccharides, sterols and an alkaloid called magnaflorine. Many cultures have reported that Horny Goat Weed supports increased libido, improved erectile function, and relief from menopausal discomfort. While the scientific community has focused mainly on men and treatments for erectile dysfunction, women's sexual performance and loss of sex drive (among both sexes) are also hot issues today. In recent studies, a daily dose of Horny Goat Weed extract has shown significant results as a sexual performance enhancer for both men and women - boosting sexual energy & stamina. Horny Goat Weed lowers blood pressure by dilating capillaries and blood vessels while slowing the adrenal production that can hinder blood flow to the sex organs. Men achieve better erections due to this effect and it is thought that women benefit from the increased blood flow as well and perhaps from other testosterone-like alkaloids and sterols within the plant. Research has also shown that Horny Goat Weed significantly increases testosterone in mice. Horny Goat Weed is a traditional Chinese herb of long-standing use by those in the health care profession, where it has been used in the past to relieve liver, joint, knee, and back problems.

Tribulus Terrestris - Also known as Puncture Vine and Goathead, has been used as a general tonic and as an herbal remedy for impotence. In recent years, Tribulus has developed a following among body builders and exercise enthusiasts. It is believed that Tribulus Terrestris increases testosterone. This is accomplished by raising the amount of LH (luteinizing hormone), which is produced by the pituitary gland. LH plays a significant role in regulating testosterone production. Tribulus has been used in some cultures to increase libido, especially in men, and to treat sexual dysfunction. It has also been used as a tonic to increase energy levels. Tribulus Terrestris is used in combination with Yohimbe as an enhancer of male performance, both sexually and athletically. Tribulus Terrestris is especially effective for maintaining testosterone in individuals who are dieting or engaged in regular, strenuous exercise.

Muira Puama Extract  - This botanical has been used by South American shamen as a powerful sexual tonic. Muira Puama is listed in the British Pharmacopoeia as a sexual tonic. Early explorers brought the herb back to Europe where it was integrated into European herbal medicine. It is a native Brazilian plant, also known as Potency Wood. A recent clinical study performed at the Institute of Sexology in Paris, France, has validated its safety and effectiveness in improving libido and sexual function. The Clinical study of 262 patients complaining of lack of sexual desire and inability to attain or maintain an erection demonstrated that Muira pauma was effective in 62% of the cases within two weeks. Muira pauma appears to work by enhancing both psychological and physical aspects of sexual function.

Maca Extract (Lepidium meyenii) - Is a botanical from Peru which has been used successfully by native Peruvians as an herbal aphrodisiac and adaptogen to increase energy levels (as well as for a variety of other purposes) since before the time of the Incas. Maca has been used medicinally for centuries to enhance fertility in humans and animals.  A study published in the April 2000 issue of Urology, the prestigious medical journal that first published the Viagra studies, found Maca's sexual performance powers to be consistent with the legendary reports coming from Peru for hundreds of years. Active components: A chemical analysis conducted in 1981 showed the presence of biologically-active aromatic isothiocyanates, especially p-methoxybenzyl isothiocyanate, which have reputed aphrodisiac properties. Initial analysis of Maca indicates that the effects on fertility are a result of the glucosinolates.

Suma Root - Is also known by the names Amazon Ginseng, Brazilian Ginseng, Brazilian Carrots, and Para Todo. This is a shrub that grows in the Amazon Basin, and has long been one of the most highly regarded South American herbs. There has not yet been extensive scientific research, but it does have a long tradition of use as a folk medicine. In Spanish, "suma" means "for all things". The part of this plant used medicinally is the root. The primary chemical constituents of Suma Root include saponins, sitosterol, stigmasterol, allantoin, sesquiterpenes, polyphenols, and germanium.

Suma's properties are adaptogen, tonic, aphrodisiac, restorative, and astringent.  South American Natives have used Suma for centuries to treat wounds, skin rashes, low energy and sexual disinterest. The overall effect is to give you an increased resistance to stress while having a cell-building and regenerating effect. It also has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that can help alleviate chronic and acute pain.
